Children ages 4 and 5 learn the foundational elements of math concepts such as sorting, graphing, identifying numbers, using one to one counting and identifying patterns.
Our calendar work allows for children to be introduced to ordinal numbers as well as learning forward and backwards counting.
Sorting large and small manipulatives gives children the ability to strengthen their fine motor skills and identify the concepts of addition and subtraction.
This week in Pre-K Math, we focused on using number on the calendar to determine which number comes before and after, forward and backward counting and recognizing simple patterns.
As our math work continues in Pre-K, we will learn to recognize and read numbers, complete and recognize more challenging patterns and identify 2D shapes such as circles, triangles and squares.
