Pre-Kindergarten recently studied the letter "D" with games and activities. Some favorites included working with dice and dominoes in Math.
Pre-Kindergarten students rolled the dice to see how many pieces of "candy" to put in their Halloween buckets, and rolled again to see how many unifix cubes to use to create tall towers.
Using dominoes, Pre-Kindergarten counted the number of dots (pips) on each tile, found matching tiles to stack together, lined tiles end to end by number and built domino rallies to knock down.
Exploration is key - young children need time, opportunity, and materials to pursue this important aspect of their development.
