1st Grade Poets Put Feelings to Paper

First Grade writers have been celebrating Fall.

After reading Hailstones and Halibut Bones written by Mary O'Neill, the First Graders considered emotions and items associated with the fall colors: orange, red, and yellow.

After brainstorming lists of feelings (such as happy, angry, frustrated, joyful) and objects (such as bananas, lemons, firetrucks) together, the writers were inspired to write and illustrate their own color poems with pencil, paper and watercolor paints.
