The Magnus Health Mobile App, available for Apple and Android phone operating systems, is connected to a student’s Magnus Health account and will allow parents to complete a COVID-19 Daily Health Assessment easily from a smartphone in just a few clicks. Completion of this assessment each day is a requirement for every student before arrival on campus.
Please note that the app is only available Monday-Friday, so if you are testing it out over the weekend and having difficulty, this is likely the reason.
Parents should download the Magnus Mobile App, and access their child’s health account from their phone. Some families have already done this, and if you have, you don’t need to do anything else. The COVID-19 Daily Health Assessment will simply show up as a button in your child’s health account.
Visit your app store and download the Magnus Mobile v2 app. After the app is downloaded, you will need to link it to your child’s Magnus health account that you usually access through the NPS homepage after logging into CardinalNet.
You will be asked for your username and password, and this is where it gets tricky. You cannot use your log in for CardinalNet for the mobile app. You will need to create a username and password specifically for the Magnus Mobile App.
The easiest way to do this is as follows:
Access your child’s account as you normally do, through CardinalNet on the NPS homepage. You will be brought to your “Health Tracker,” which looks something like this:
Hover your cursor over your name, and you should see an option to “change your credentials.” Select this option.
After “change credentials” is selected, you will be brought to a screen that allows you to create a username and password that you will use for the app:
Remember this username and password!
Then, go to the app on your phone, and sign in using your new username and password:
After you have done so, you will be able to see your child’s account, or if you have more than one child, the accounts for each of your children.
Each day, parents will open the Magnus Mobile App, and answer the questions for the COVID-19 Daily Health Screen. It will look like this:
Click on your child’s name (again, if you have more than one child, they will be listed separately), and you will be brought to a screen, where you will select the COVID-19 button and complete the screening:
The answers to the questions will indicate a green “GO” sign or a red “STOP” sign, approving your child for arrival on campus or asking you to keep your child home and reach out to the school nurse for consultation.
We recommend you install this and begin these daily health screenings even during remote learning. Doing so will allow the school to identify trends of the health status in the NPS community, giving us more information as we look toward reopening campus. It will also give you a chance to make this a part of your morning routine and normalize this new activity. It should take no more than 2 minutes per child, depending on the thermometer you use for temperature taking.
If you have any questions or need help, please reach out to the school nurses: nurse@nps-dc.org
