Lives in: Washington, DC
Grade(s) of Child(ren): 2nd Grade
What I looked for in a school: I wanted a place that celebrates childhood but also prepares students socially and academically.
About Me: I graduated from NPS in 1995. I remember each of my teachers for a reason: they were truly committed to their students. My daughter has been at NPS for two years, and it is clear to me that the standards for teacher excellence have not changed.

What I looked for in a school: We were attracted to NPS's dedicated educators and the school's social-emotional learning emphasis starting in the earliest grades.
About Me: I work in education and have found NPS incredibly warm, thoughtful, and nurturing for my oldest daughter. We've been with the school for 5 years, and she regularly comes home excited to share her work and stories. We are grateful to NPS for the joy! Cantonese speaking.

Grade(s) of Child(ren): 1st Grade (and Class of 2024 alum!)
What I looked for in a school: We want our children to experience a school with a developmentally appropriate environment where children not only find joy in learning but also have the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with their peers and adults.
Why I love NPS: We absolutely adore NPS because it aligns perfectly with developmental appropriateness, ensuring that each child's learning experience is tailored to their growth and needs. The teachers' dedication goes beyond academics, showing a sincere concern for each child's overall well-being. Moreover, the profound sense of community at NPS creates a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere, making it a place where both students and families feel deeply connected and valued.

Rebecca B.

Family Resides In: Chevy Chase, MD
Grade(s) of Child(ren): 6th Grade, 3rd Grade and Kindergarten
What we looked for in a school: It was clear with every interaction that NPS was a child-centered school that truly understands its mission. A pre-K through 6th grade school felt like a wonderful way to give them a strong start in a supportive environment that is built for young kids and young families. For a family with three sporty boys, we are also glad that NPS is offering our kids a robust experience in music, drama, and art.
What we love about NPS: It is a school populated by exceptionally nice people - teachers and administrators who are warm, engaging, and helpful, both to students and to parents. We know from experience how important and helpful this wonderful community can be.

What we looked for in a school: A caring, nurturing and engaging environment that pays attention to a child's individuality and teaches the important values of being a member of the society.
What we love about NPS: We love the community, which feels like a big family. The teachers truly care about the students and families. The school makes everything from after care to school lunch flexible to accommodate the different needs of families. The curriculum is both rigorous and adaptive. Our son loves going to school every day.

What we looked for in a school: We looked for a school community who would embrace and celebrate the entire child. We wanted a school that would fuel Kyle’s curiosity for knowledge. We wanted a community that was intentionally inclusive beneath the surface.
What we love about NPS: We love the intentional joy that permeates through the NPS community. This joy is evident in every part of the community.
