Michael Molina is a is an internationally acclaimed poet, writer, spoken word artist, speaker, and educator. Mike serves as Assistant Head of School for Community, Inclusion, and Equity at the Gilman School. Formerly, Mike served as Head of School at the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys, a school of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC. Mike also served as the founding director of the Finney-Green program, a wrap-around student support program for boys from underrepresented communities at the Gilman School, a pre- Kindergarten through twelfth grade independent school in Baltimore, Maryland. With over a decade of experience in education and youth development in public, charter, and independent sectors, Mike has found success in cultivating programs, creating synergy across stakeholders in youth success, and supporting faculty in their professional excellence. Mike holds a J. D. from Yale Law School and a B.A. in English from Xavier University of Louisiana. After law school, Mike advocated for state-wide investment in youth development in California and then won a competitive fellowship to design a program supporting youth and their families who were displaced from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Mike has helped launch a bilingual immersion charter school and directed educational programs for refugee students and families. His wide-ranging, purpose-driven professional experience gives Mike a keen eye for recognizing the power and potential of every child, adult, and community he has worked with. Ike is also a gifted spoken word poet and writer and lives in Baltimore with his wife, Jessy, and their two children.
