Camp Invention: Grades 1-6
Camp Invention’s “Illuminate” for Grades 1-6 is designed to build Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills through a week of high-energy games, building challenges, and sensory exploration. Construct a marine exploration vehicle and race to collect bioluminescent specimens. Design a waterproof kart using real tools. Use teamwork to navigate an obstacle course, and try to improve your design to achieve maximum speed. Brainstorm to solve design puzzles considering challenges like functionality and user friendliness. Expand the boundaries of your imagination!
Soccer Clinic: Ages 4-5
Week 1 (8/17-21)
Week 2 (8/24-28)
Our half-day soccer camps are designed for those new to the sport. Through drills and games, campers focus on skill development: shooting, passing, trapping, dribbling and defending. Soccer Camp is lead by Jouons Kids, a premier DC youth soccer organization whose award-winning coaches also lead NPS afterschool program classes.
Soccer Clinic Extended Day
New in 2015, this optional childcare program is a fun and restful afternoon for our soccer camp participants. Staff members provide care and free play activities from the end of the soccer clinic until 3:00 pm daily. Campers must bring a packed lunch and participate in a short rest period.
DC Adventures: Grades 1-6
(8/24-28) Spectacular Science!
End your summer with a bang when you join us for an exciting week of daily field trips that will ignite your curiosity. Each day will begin and end with science-focused projects and activities.
Study plant life and discuss germination. Plant seeds and
keep them in various conditions to compare their growth later on.
Learn about threats to biodiversity and make pollution
catchers from household items.
Natural History Museum
Continue to learn about sustainability and how species
disappear. Make your own fossils and recycle paper scraps into beads and new
sheets of paper.
Marian Koshland Science Museum
Explore the science of healthy living, then play a brain
game to learn how to grow a healthy mind through the choices you make
throughout your life.
Air & Space Museum
Learn about life on the International Space Station and
consider the challenges of space travel. Design your own flying machine and
explore alternative energy when we make air-powered vehicles.
