After 3 Club
Campers may pre-register for After 3 Club, our after camp care program. Staff members provide professional childcare from the end of the camp day until they are picked up at the parent’s convenience (any time between 3:00 and 6:00 pm). Children enjoy free time for play with friends along with a variety of planned activities including art, cooking, games, and water play. A snack is provided at approximately 4:00 pm each afternoon. If space is available, campers not pre-registered for After 3 Club may also participate on a drop-in basis.
After 3 Club runs June 22 to August 27 and is not offered on August 14 or 28.
Summer Horizons Camp offers an early drop-off program for all campers beginning at 7:30 am which continues until the regular drop off time of 8:30 am. Early Bird campers are supervised by Summer Horizons Camp staff and participate in quiet age-appropriate activities. A variety of cereal and granola bars is available for Early Birds who have not yet eaten breakfast. Campers may drop-in to the program as needed, or pre-register for the entire week. Early Birds is offered Tuesday-Friday during our traditional day camp only.
Bluebirds, Larks, Robins, and Hawks are encouraged to register for instructional swimming. Swimmers will walk with Summer Horizons staff members to American University’s pool for lessons. Swim lessons will be provided by certified lifeguards of Nation's Capital Swimming, Inc., who will give swimming instruction and supervision to small groups of campers. A limited number of spaces are available and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Bluebirds, Larks, Robins, and Hawks not signed up for swimming take part in a variety of AM Adventures activities designed to complement the rest of the program and may include water play. This program is by registration only. Bluebirds
and Larks swim Tuesday-Thursday; Robins and Hawks swim Monday-Thursday.
Swimming is offered only during our traditional day camp.
