The Pre-Kindergarten students had fun experimenting with magnets and various objects. They learned about the properties of magnets: North pole/South pole and that opposites poles attract while like poles repel. They found out that magnetism travels through different materials, that the earth is a magnet with North and South poles, and that migratory birds have magnetic brains, which help them fly back and forth to their destinations.
The children experimented with different materials making predictions whether an object will be attracted to a magnet or not. They analyzed and classified the materials and then made books about magnets. Lastly, they went on a magnet scavenger hunt around school.
