How to Apply
Acquire Application Materials
Applications for the 2008-2009 school year are accepted starting in September 2007. To receive a Viewbook and application materials, please contact the Admissions Office. You can also download the application materials from the Admissions Downloads area. If you are a current NPS family or a member of The National Presbyterian Church applying to Nursery or Pre-kindergarten, you are eligible for the Early Notification Program.
Submit the Application Form
To apply at any grade level, parents should submit the completed application form and a non-refundable fee of $60. For families applying for financial aid, the fee is $15. Mail your application and check payable to "National Presbyterian School" to the Office of Admissions. Completed application forms are due in late January. There is an additional deadline in late February for completed files including visits, recommendation forms, transcripts and testing. For specific dates, please see the Admissions Calendar. An application form is available in the Admissions Downloads area or from the Admissions Office.
Student Visits
Upon receipt of your completed application, the Admissions Office will schedule a date for the student applicant to visit NPS. Applicants to Nursery, Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten are invited to attend one of the small playgroup sessions scheduled on either a Friday or Saturday in January or February. Student applicants to Grades 1 - 6 are invited to spend a day visiting NPS in their current grade.
Parent Visits
Once an application is received, the Admissions Office will contact the parent(s) or guardian(s) to schedule an appointment with a member of the Admissions team. These meetings generally take between 30-60 minutes depending upon whether a tour is requested.
Recommendations and Transcripts
Teachers' recommendation forms are required for all students who currently attend a school or day care. Recommendations must be sent directly from the teacher to NPS. We will accept either the NPS recommendation forms or the AISGW Common Recommendation Forms. Transcripts and any standardized test scores are also required for those students applying to Grades 2 - 6.
Recommendation and Transcript Release Forms are available in the Admissions Downloads area or from the Admissions Office.
Testing Requirements
Applicants to each grade level (except Nursery and Pre-kindergarten) are required to have an admissions test individually administered by an approved educational diagnostician at a testing service center or at another AISGW member school. Testing may be waived if the applicant has had prior testing within the last year. To determine if testing is applicable in this situation, contact the Admissions Office.
